There is good news for Brandon knee replacement patients. We have been able to shorten knee replacement wait times due to a catch-up of the post-COVID backlog, addition of anaesthetists, a major move to day surgery procedures not dependent on bed availability, and scheduling of more procedures per day. Performing more bilateral replacements instead of one sided procedures many months apart significantly reduces the time patients are waiting to have two healthy knees. We have also tightened up the scheduling of the prehab sessions required prior to surgery, and added additional booking efficiencies.
Together with significantly shortened wait times from initial referral to surgeon , consultation, these changes are helping patients get their knee replacement sooner than previously possible.
